Scrappy quilt

Low - volume Quilts

I’ve  started with my usual pastel scraps.

and a diagram so my aqua scraps  would be my main colour.

This is how my first block is turning out….

possibility ?

I’m thinking of adding the flowers to the side  strips as I’m using a plain white on white

fabric instead of a coloured print.  One down with19 more to go.  This is

going to take awhile as  Christmas is creeping up very quickly but this quilt

is becoming very addictive.

                       back soon with more, Arlene

I’ve just picked up my issue of “Quiltmaker’s  Jan./Feb. magazine and I was   thrilled to see an ad for my

new line,  ”Cherished Memories”, in it.

Fabric line

“Red Rooster Fabrics”

is  shipping this line  to quilt shops now.

I always tell myself that I won’t go near the magazine rack when I’m

shopping, but it never works, lucky me.

Kaffe Fasset’s  newest  book “Quilt Grandeur” is also on my list.

My block is called “Whimsical Boquet”

IMG_0443.jpg1st joice blog block

Ok, in the beginning it did take on the look of an” ice cream cone” but as I added the leaves it turned into

what I had hoped  for  in the first place, a whimsical flower.

The idea started as usual with my favourite things, leftover scraps.

IMG_9536.jpg1st choice blog tour

When I started  the block I didn’t know what I was going to do for the sashing, would it be different

colours or would it be a white sashing, in the end I chose the white sashing.

I had forgotten how many days it would  take me  to get all those little pieces cut, arranged, and raw edged

but in the end it was all worth it and I loved the fact that I had rescued more scraps.

IMG_0483.jpglittle scraps

We’ve started something new here at Rabbits Haven,  all the little  scraps that are too small to cut up for quilts

are now being used as stuffing to make soft little pillow mats  for our  Animal Shelters, and

believe it or not,  the little scraps make a great soft stuffing, and can  stand up to many washings.

Check with your local Animal Shelters to see the different sizes that they might require.

**************

Once I finished putting the blocks together I started on the border……I chose  the

scrappy look again, and love it.

We’ve added a special touch for  boys only  to this little baby  quilt.

IMG_0663truck blog tour

truck 3 - blog for boys

and this  was what we did for that special little girl……so it was only fair that

the little boys had their own special quilt.

IMG_0545 - rabbit quilt blog

I’ve just raw edged the rabbits to this quilt using a smaller stitch so that it

safely goes through all the washings  it requires in it’s busy life.

It’s making me think that I have to make two new dog quilts for the two new

additions to our family, two of my grandchildren have  just adopted a dog each  so

the stitching is going to have to be strong, I’ve seen them in action.

                                 back soon Arlene

Christmas placemat

Sweet placemat

The patterns for this adorable placemat, napkins, and  table runner  are available in this issue of

“Quilters Newsletter”  Christmas issue on news stands now.

These cute patterns were designed and made by Bev Getschel of Amery, Wisconsin.

I love the way she bordered the table runner using the little Santa faces.
