100 Bocks blog tour
November 6th, 2012 | Posted by in fabric designer | my original artwork | quilt samples | quiltingWelcome to day 3 of Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 6 blog tour.
The last two days on the tour have been so inspiring that you
won’t want to miss any of these talented designers blogs, the inspiration is endless,
and thanks to Quiltmakers 100 Blocks magazine we get to see it all. This great
issue will by on sale Nov. 13th, or you just might be lucky enough to win
a free copy on one of the daily blogs.
I’m so thrilled again to have one of my blocks in this great issue.
This is the angel who inspired my block,
“Little Rescued Scraps”
….who made me save all the scraps,
to make my block.
This quilt took me on a journey of cutting, cutting and more cutting. I began to
wonder why I started, but I knew it was because I loved these little pastel pieces,
and I couldn’t stand the thought of throwing even the smallest piece out.
So the journey started by sewing all these little scraps together,
and at last the centre of the block is finished.
and here’s the finished block,
“Little Rescued Scraps”
I knew when I finished my sample block that I wanted to keep going, I still had so
many, many more little scraps. I finally finished it over the summer and was so
glad I did.
I spent a few frantic days cutting enough scraps to make the border and
trying out different sashings…..
but in the end, I decided on this.
Even though this little scrappy quilt took so many more hours to make,
because of all the cutting, I decided I
would definitely do it again, at least that’s what I’m telling myself now that I’m finished.
I decided at the end, after I had machine quilted, that I just had to add
the little angel to the quilt, and
here’s the finished quilt……
Leave a comment on our blog and you’ll be eligible for our give aways.
Someone will win this bundle of fat quarters.
I used the scraps from my fabric line ”Dancing with Sparkle” to make my
”Little Rescued Scraps” quilt,
plus we’re giving away two of Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 6 magazines.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and keep following the tour, there’s still two
more great days to go after today.
We’ll post our winners on Saturday.
back soon, Arlene

Hi! loved the small blocks as background. Probably would do a different applique & maybe make it bigger.
Well, good things come in small packages, which I tell my youngest (and smallest) twin granddaughter–the rescue rabbit is cute & small.
I love scrap! I use it very often, in every quilt. My closet is full of new fabric, but first I take from my box of scrap. Good job.
A beautiful quilt – can see me making something similar for my little granddaughter. Such a cute bunny also.
I love your block! Simple and nice .The colors of the fabrics are so lovely too
I have to say, your block is absolutely precious and the bunny just makes it more so! Thank you for the opportunity to win!
I also hate to throw away even tiny scraps! And when they can become something this lovely, why would you toss them? Thanks for sharing!
So cute! And the idea is nice
AND the fabric is wonderful!
I LOVE your tiny pieces and the soft gentle colours. Beautiful work. Can hardly wait for the magazine to be on the shelves so I can make my own version. Of course if I won the fat quarters I could be a copy cat. Joanne

Love this block and quilt!!!! Love the look of it, and love the technique. Being fairly new to the whole quilting scene, I love scrappy quilts, but postage stamp quilts are a bit intimidating with all the seams and matching, but your techique for this block and quilt, makes sense and less daunting to try. I love how it comes together step by step. Congrats on being in the latest issue!

You certainly did cut your little heart out, so to speak. The end result turned out to be a very beautiful quilt. The color pink is just so soft and pretty.
