Welcome to day 5 of Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Blog Tour
and thank you for stopping by to see my block.
I’m so thrilled again to have my block in Quiltmakers inspiring 100 Blocks Magazine and to
join in the blog tour. Don’t forget to leave a comment so you’re eligible for our prizes, plus
Quiltmaker is also going to send 1 lucky person a copy of the magazine from your comments.
My block is called “Whimsical Boquet”
Ok, in the beginning it did take on the look of an” ice cream cone” but as I added the leaves it turned into
what I had hoped for in the first place, a whimsical flower.
The idea started as usual with my favourite things, leftover scraps.
When I started the block I didn’t know what I was going to do for the sashing, would it be different
colours or would it be a white sashing, in the end I chose the white sashing.
I had forgotten how many days it would take me to get all those little pieces cut, arranged, and raw edged
but in the end it was all worth it and I loved the fact that I had rescued more scraps.
We’ve started something new here at Rabbits Haven, all the little scraps that are too small to cut up for quilts
are now being used as stuffing to make soft little pillow mats for our Animal Shelters, and
believe it or not, the little scraps make a great soft stuffing, and can stand up to many washings.
Check with your local Animal Shelters to see the different sizes that they might require.
Once I finished putting the blocks together I started on the border……I chose the
scrappy look again, and love it.
and here’s the almost finished quilt, I’m just doing the binding.
It’s going to be a combination of scrappy strips.
Don’t forget to leave us a comment so you’re eligible for our draw.
Quiltmaker will be sending one of you their fabulous new issue of 100 blocks magazine, and
we will be sending three of you a package of border prints for your stash.
